Frequently Asked Questions:

Day groups:

This event is open to Guides and Rangers on a weekend residential basis only. After evaluating the possibility of having Rainbows and Brownies visiting the event for the day we realise it would not be age appropriate due to unsociable hours and the nature of the event. However, we are looking into hosting alternative events specific to those age groups – so keep your eyes peeled!

Going Away With Licence:

We are currently recruiting our volunteer team and will be enlisting volunteers with modules 1-8 of Going Away With to cover the pre-erected tented village. For those attending and bringing own tents, you will require modules 1-6 and 8 (Module 7 is not required). Units are more than welcome to ‘buddy-up’ with those who have the qualification, but you must ensure ratios are abided by.

Travel & parking:

Travel is not included in the ticket cost. We encourage car sharing, public transport and coach drop-off where possible to reduce the volume of traffic. If you will require parking, you must apply for a permit – these will be offered on a first come, first serve basis. We will contact you closer to the event regarding a permit. There will be an area for those being dropped off and and any coaches will be allocated a drop-off/collection slot and will be required to vacate site as soon as drop-off/collection has been completed.

We are looking into running a shuttle bus from Norwich train station and bus station – please contact us directly to express interest and for further information.

Arrival and departure times:

Gates will be open from 1pm on Friday 16th August and the event will finish after breakfast on Monday 19th August with departure from the site before midday.

Tent and pitch sizes:

Ahead of the event you will be allocated a campsite. We will not be having formal camping pitches marked up but will have staff and volunteers on-site to assist with the space allocated to your group. No additional communal spaces will be allowed (gazebos, mess tents etc.)

Tents sizes will be limited depending on the number of people on your booking and tents can be a maximum of 2 persons bigger than the number of people sleeping inside.

Examples:

  • 3 girls – Can have up to a 5 person tent
  • 4 girls – Can have up to a 6 person tent
  • 6 girls – Can have up to 8 person tent

It is requested that leaders share tents with a minimum of 2 people per tent.

Catering:

Ticket prices include full-board catering which will begin with an evening meal on Friday and finish after breakfast on Monday. Meals will be served as canteen style and meal times will be provided with your welcome pack. All pre-booked dietary requirements will be catered for for the duration.

Activity sessions:

Attendees will be split into four groups and will have a session for each of the four key areas (Hautbois Adventurous Activities, Pamper Zone, Animal and Conversation Area, and Arts and Craft Tent). Each session will last for a total of 2 & 1/2 hours. Your full programme will be included within your welcome pack.

There will also be a cinema, chill out zone/tuck shop available throughout the day if the girls decide not to take part in the scheduled activities alongside activities on the main stage.

Main Stage:

The main stage will be host to alternative entertainment including bingo and quizzes around session times. On Saturday night, the stage will be home to our GIG IN A FIELD and acts will be announced in the lead up to the event. Sunday will see the stage become host to a neon party and finish with a light display!

Leader only area:

There will be an area on-site throughout the weekend which will be host to leader only events which will include schedule talks, training information and ‘meet the team’ informal drop ins. This will also be a space for leaders to un-wind, have some baked goods and catch up with friends. Please be aware this will be a dry event and alcohol is not permitted on-site.

Leaders will also have opportunities to participate in exclusive leader only sessions for Hautbois Adventurous activities, Pamper Zone and the Arts & Craft Area.

However, please ensure you have sufficient leaders staying with the girls during their sessions.

Information Point & First Aid:

During the event, an information point will be open from 8am to 8pm with volunteers who will be able to answer questions and provide assistance. During the event, the Hautbois team will be on-site 24/7 and a member of the team will be on-call should you need assistance. The on-call number will be provided in your welcome pack.

We will also have a designated area for first aid and although all Hautbois staff can assist with first aid when required, it is the responsibility of the leaders to administer first aid to their unit during the duration the the event.

Merchandise & Tuck Shop:

Merchandise will be available to pre-order via the Girlguiding Anglia Shop website and available to collect from the leader area on Friday 16th August and will include, t-shirts, polo shirt, hoody’s, Hautbois Fest badges and much more. All items will also be available for purchase during the event from the on-site shop 1pm-8pm on Friday, 9am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
